Nowhere announced for RISING Festival in Melbourne
Posted on: 12th March 2026
Nowhere will travel to Melbourne this June as part of the 2026 edition of RISING Festival, running 2–6 June.
“Welcome to Nowhere. I’m going to share with you how I got here – and what ‘here’ actually means to me.”
In this intricate and playful solo show, actor and activist Khalid Abdalla (Mnemonic, United 93, The Kite Runner, The Crown) takes audiences on a surprising journey into his own history. Inspired by his involvement in the Egyptian revolution of 2011 and his experience of the counter-revolution that followed, the work situates a personal story within a wider cartography of seismic global events.
Encompassing the histories of colonialism and decolonisation, friendship and loss, and protest movements across the world – alongside the violence in Gaza following the events of October 7th 2023 – Nowhere brings the personal and political together in an act of anti-biography. The work asks how we arrived at this moment in history and how we might find agency within it.
RISING subscriber presale is live now, with 20% off select shows.
General sale opens Monday 16 March at 12pm.
