A Lyric Hammersmith Production
Behind each lit window may lie a tragedy. Most of these we can claim no responsibility for, but there are two windows you should not ignore.
Contains Violence was a unique site-specific event for the Lyric Hammersmith’s roof terrace. Watching the windows in the buildings all around them, the audience uncovered a Hitchcock style thriller which started at sundown. Listening through high-fidelity headphones, the audience could hear every whisper, every secret and every threat as clearly as if they were in the room.
Part mystery and part peepshow, Contains Violence was a surreal snapshot connecting the secret lives of others created by David Rosenberg, (who co-founded the theatre company Shunt which pioneered what came to be known as ‘immersive theatre)’ using breakthrough audio technology and buildings on the West London skyline. Working with David on this show led us to collaborate again on Electric Hotel in 2010.
