Project History

A Fevered Sleep & Young Vic Co-production

Produced in association with Fuel

Commissioned by Pontio, Bangor, supported by Stratford Circus

It’s Dusk, the time when everything changes. Celebrate the wide, wild world around you.

Nestled together in the heart of a forest, a group of creatures with furry tails watched and waited for someone to arrive. Their friend had a long way to travel, many things to discover, and huge challenges to face.

In Fevered Sleep’s Dusk, children played a central role in this inventive show, which combined film and live performance, that explored the meaning of home, family, change, and reunion.

"Utterly ravishing... Life’s never boring when you have a tail to play with and it’s a wrench to leave Dusk’s twinkling world."

Time Out

"...this piece for four to seven year olds ends on such an endorphin rush that the whole family emerges grinning inanely... An enthralling and deeply affecting call of the wild for families. "

The Stage

"...a show that creates two worlds, one in the theatre and one on film, and then makes then collide… the children are genuinely surprised and delighted."

The Guardian

"Fevered Sleep have created a hybrid piece of film and theatre that enables the audience to re-think just how we see everything around us – both in a city and the natural world. "

Bargain Theatreland

"David Harradine, director of Fevered Sleep, wants to make strange, beautiful theatre for little people, and he's not talking Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He's talking green, ecologically sound vistas of change and renewal, a new dawn, a bright sky."
