Fuel presents Celebrate New Theatre in Your Neighbourhood
In 2015, contemporary theatre makers, thinkers, and presenters were invited to join us at this New Theatre in Your Neighbourhood event in Preston. This was an opportunity to join Fuel and a range of artists and speakers to share thoughts and ideas about how to improve the touring experience for artists, audiences, and venues and to experience the cultural life of Preston together.
From 2012 to 2014 we led a research project into how to make touring new theatre in the UK better for artists, producers, venues, and audiences. This event was an opportunity to share some learnings from this project. For the research, we worked specifically in Colchester, Malvern, Margate, Poole, and Preston.
Knowing that lots of artists, funders, and venues were, and still are, trying to improve how they develop, present, and tour contemporary work, we decided to invite many of them to share ideas and top tips on how they work as part of this event.
We also presented some contemporary theatre from local artists including Lowri Evans and Andy Smith in a range of venues across Preston.
