  • Project: Celebrate New Theatre in Your Neighbourhood

Contemporary theatre makers, thinkers and presenters are invited to join us at the New Theatre in Your Neighbourhood event in Preston. Join Fuel and a range of artists and speakers to share thoughts and ideas about how to improve the touring experience for artists, audiences and venues and to experience the cultural life of Preston together.

Since 2012 we have been leading a research project into how to make touring new theatre in the UK better for artists, producers, venues and audiences. We’d like to share some learning from this project with you. For the research, we’ve been working specifically  in Colchester, Malvern, Margate, Poole and Preston.

We know lots of artists, funders and venues are trying to improve how they develop, present and tour contemporary work and we will be inviting them to share ideas and top tips on how they work as part of this event.

We will also be presenting some contemporary theatre from local artists including Lowri Evans and Andy Smith in a range of venues across Preston.

This is a FREE event open to everyone interested in touring contemporary performance in the UK.

The event will be fully accessible to wheelchair users and will be sign interpreted.

Save the date: 26 November 2015.

Meet at Preston train station at 3pm. Stay the night and soak up all of what Preston has to offer. The train from London Euston only takes 2 hours, and from Manchester a mere 40 minutes.

If you’d like to attend please

NB we are working hard to provide some subsidised travel and accommodation for independent makers, thinkers and producers who are not regularly funded. If you would like to come but would require financial assistance to do so please let us know and we will try our best to help.
