Music to Move to

  • Project: Music to Move to
  • Artist/Company: Fuel

Music to Move to was a project that invited the public to dance to brilliant new music. Via a bespoke website we invited people to upload videos of themselves dancing to specially commissioned tracks by artists such as Mikey J Asante, Jon Boden (Bellowhead), Little Boots and Nico Muhly. For inspiration we also asked choreographers such as Hemay Palanito, Irven Lewis, Jenna Lee and Rafael Bonachela to create their own dance films to one of the tracks. The project took place between October and December 2014 and the public video with the most likes won tickets to Dance Umbrella 2015.

See the video above for a montage of the public submissions.

Music to Move to was commissioned by Dance Umbrella and The Space. Supported by Arts Council England, the PRS for Music Foundation, and the Jerwood Choreographic Research Fund, with funds from Bonnie Bird Choreographic Fund, Birmingham Hippodrome, ResCen, and Birmingham Rep.
