Protest – inspiring a generation of young activists
Posted on: 5th June 2023
After a month of travelling, Protest has finished its tour of Scotland. It’s been a journey! The show debuted in Newcastle before touring northerly to venues in Perth, St Andrews, and Aberdeen before heading out to Shetland and Orkney (where our cast and crew were ferried across the North Sea).
The tour concluded with performances at Edinburgh International Children’s Festival and Tron Theatre last week. At the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival Fuel were one of 13 incredible companies that travelled from across the UK and around the world to present work to thousands of audience members, many of which were children.
It was delightful to see such hopeful responses to our work from young people, including posters and signs designed by budding young activists who were inspired by the show’s themes.
One young audience member came away resovled to do something to make the world a better place. Inspired by the show, she decided to write ‘BE KIND’ messages in chalk on the path of her journey to school.
We also had some lovely written feedback, including a ★★★★★ review written by 10 year old Nina.

Other enthusiastic responses from audience members include:
“It was 300 million out of 10”
“Was that an hour? It only felt like 10 minutes”
“I thought it was absolutely brilliant”
“That was gooood vibes”
“What brilliant performances”
“Wasn’t that so exciting at the end”
