Touring Together seeks Local Engagement Specialists in Leeds, Oxford and Northampton

Posted on: 22nd January 2026

Touring Together, a new national touring programme led by China Plate and Fuel, is recruiting three Local Engagement Specialists (LES) to work in Leeds, Oxford and Northampton.

Running from April 2026 to January 2028, Touring Together is a sustainable initiative creating and touring new mid-scale theatre productions (400–600 seats) across the UK. The programme brings together producing partners China Plate and Fuel with five major venues: Brighton Dome, Leeds Playhouse, Oxford Playhouse, Royal & Derngate (Northampton), and Warwick Arts Centre.

Local Engagement Specialists are central to the programme. Acting as local connectors, they will build relationships with community groups, schools and grassroots organisations, helping shape engagement activity around Touring Together’s productions and ensuring they reach diverse audiences. The role is freelance and flexible, with approximately 10 days in Year 1 and up to 12 days in each of Years 2 and 3, paid at £150 per day.

Applicants do not need a background in theatre or marketing. Touring Together is seeking people with strong local knowledge, excellent relationship-building skills, and a passion for connecting communities through storytelling and shared experiences.

The programme will present two touring productions exploring themes including underrepresented histories, identity and belonging, spoken word, allyship, and collective storytelling.

Applications close at 11pm on Sunday 1 March 2026.
Interviews will take place online in mid-to-late March.
