About Fuel Up

Fresh development for adventurous learners.

Fuel Up is our creative development and learning programme. It offers training, mentoring and creative opportunities for young people, artists and producers: sharing what we’ve learned over twenty years of producing, and creating space for you to experiment and learn. If you want to grow through creative practice, if you are a young person exploring new skills and career possibilities, if you are a professional seeking fresh experiences to grow your practice, Fuel Up is for you. We offer development opportunities with exceptional artists and producers, connected to the same big questions of our time, creative spirit and values which inspire our programme.

Fuel Up is:

  • Artist-led: curated and facilitated by artists and practitioners connected to Fuel.
  • Rooted in practice: learning through doing, making mistakes and achieving successes.
  • Brave and inclusive: prioritising underrepresented voices and widening access to the sector.
  • Connected: linking participants to Fuel’s wider artistic work and community of practice.

What We Offer

INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

We offer creative development opportunities for artists and professionals who want to deepen their practice, challenge how things are done, and build sustainable ways of working.  

CONSULTANCY & MENTORSHIP

We offer consultancy and mentoring for creative individuals and organisations, grounded in our experience of devising, producing, strategy, partnership-building and care-led leadership. Our team brings specialist expertise across artistic development, engagement, co-creation methodologies, fundraising (public and private), national and international touring, and sustainable production, enabling us to provide tailored support that responds to a wide range of needs.

We can help you navigate change, develop innovative and sustainable models and embed inclusive practice. This offer is available to individuals and organisations by enquiry.

Mentoring and shadowing: starting from £80/hour.
Consultancy: starting from £100/hour.

FORMAL EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS

We offer bespoke creative partnerships with higher education institutions and hubs, sharing our artist-led and audience-centred ways of working through placements, in-class teaching and extracurricular learning.

PLACEMENTS

Since its inception, Fuel has hosted placements across producing, production, stage management, applied theatre and cross-disciplinary practice.

We work regularly with partners including Syracuse University, Goldsmiths, Guildhall School of Music & Drama and RADA, offering flexible placements that respond to course and assignment needs.

MASTERCLASSES & LECTURES

We curate curricular and extracurricular programmes, lectures and masterclasses, to respond to the needs of your modules. Our producers and artists are experienced facilitators, working responsively with students and institutions.

SCHOOLS

Our creative learning programme helps teachers and students explore the themes, stories and ideas behind our productions while supporting key National Curriculum objectives and the Artsmark framework. Our offer is tailored to each production and may include classroom resources, pre- and post-show activities, workshops, and opportunities to meet the cast and creative team.

FUEL UP YOUNG: TOMORROW’S PROFESSIONALS

Part short course, part theatre club, Fuel Up Young is an artist-led creative journey for young people with basic creative training to explore career development ideas, build skills and confidence with live performance devising processes, and discover new ways of learning with sector-leading artists and practitioners.

CITIZENS OF FUEL 

If you take part in Fuel Up, you also become part of our network, with everyone who has been part of Fuel’s work – artists, participants, placements, freelancers and collaborators.

It’s a space to stay connected, share learning and continue relationships beyond individual projects. Members receive the Fuel Up Newsletter, with invitations to gatherings, training opportunities and alumni-only events.
