The 419 – Tube Strike Travel
With planned strike action taking place this week which may affect your travel plans, we wanted to share alternative routes to Somerset House (Somerset House, Strand Entrance – London WC2R 1LA).

By Taxi:
Strand Aldwych is a pedestrianised zone, so we would recommend being dropped off or collected outside the ME London Hotel, which is approx. 1-2 mins walk over to Somerset House.
By Train Somerset House is:
- A 10-minute walk across the river from Waterloo Station, which will be serviced as usual by National Rail and South West Railway (SWR) routes
- A 20-minute walk from Tottenham Court Road Station on the Elizabeth Line, which is confirmed to have no strike action
- A 15-minute walk from City Thameslink Station, which will be serviced as usual by Thameslink
- A 10-minute walk from Charing Cross Station, which will be serviced as usual by Southeastern Main Line routes
- A 15-minute walk from Blackfriars Station, which will be serviced as usual by National Rail and Thameslink
By Bus you can reach Somerset House:
Aldwych / Drury Lane (Stop R) is short walk across and Lancaster Place (Stop T) and Lancaster Place/Somerset House (Stop B), both next to the venue off Waterloo Bridge and are serviced by the following bus routes (from north to south):
- 243 from Waterloo towards Wood Green
- 68 from Norwood towards Euston
- 59 from Brixton towards Holborn
- 172 from Brockley towards Aldwych / Drury Lane
- 188 from North Greenwich towards Tottenham Court Road
- 1 from Canada Water towards Chalk Farm
- 139 from Waterloo towards Golders Green
- 176 from Penge towards Tottenham Court Road
- 341 from Waterloo towards Manor House
